Bathurst 1000 – Practice 1 & 2 Results
Will Brown/Scott Pye – Car #87
Practice 1 – Third (2:07.3314)
Practice 2 (co-drivers only) – Tenth (2:08.3649)
“Practice 1 was good. We did our job, ran around getting the things we had to do done, and tune the car up. We ended up P3. I felt like I could’ve done a better lap as well. So, I felt fairly positive and, unfortunately bit of a disappointing end of the day. That’s life. These things happen at Bathurst. It’s a hard joint to navigate, so you might as well get it out of the way on Thursday.”
“Practice 1 was good. I just did a few laps of my own in between Will’s runs, but it’s good to get my laps in and get back on the track. Practice 2 was going okay as well. We’re doing a race run, ticking the laps over and I don’t know. I just made a mistake through the Cutting, lost the rear and stuck in the fence. I think, we’ve got a little bit of work to do, just get me a bit more comfortable. But there’s not really much more I can add. It’s just a big night for the boys, unfortunately, so apologies to them.”
Broc Feeney/Jamie Whincup – Car #88
Practice 1 – 15th (2:08.1834)
Practice 2 (co-drivers only) – First (2:07.4788)
“It’s good to get on track again, a bit of a wild day. We had snakes, we had oil. Jamie put it on P1, so we got the ball rolling. I think our car is fast, but we still definitely have some tuning to do. Hoping to put it in the shootout realistically. We’ve got a live session in the morning to go through some pit stops and driver changes, but we’ll tune it for qualifying. We don’t need to be P1, but the goal is to be in the shootout.”
“What a crazy session (Practice 2). Oil, brown snakes. I didn’t think we were going to get out. But thank god for that marshall/snake wrangler. If we were waiting for someone in town, we wouldn’t have got out. We finally got out there, our car was reasonably good. We just went round and round and went through our test program. Unfortunately, the other car ended up in the fence, but hey, I’ve been in there a couple of times myself. And if that happens, we’ll learn, we’ll fix it, and it’ll be brand new overnight and ready to go tomorrow. 12 years is a long time. I’ve been trying pretty hard. I’m going to keep trying. I may get another, I may not, who knows. All that matters to me is that we’re in contention and contributing to the race. But to do that, you need fast cars. That’s what we’re working on at the moment. So, I hope I can contribute in some way, shape, or form, and, hopefully, the Bathurst gods are on our side this weekend.”
