“Congratulations to Mark (Winterbottom). It’s great to see him back on the podium because he’s one of the greats of the sport who has been doing it for a long time. I suppose it’s a good thing when you’re disappointed being second. I felt like we had more pace today, but overall to walk away with a podium and jump up a few spots in the championship is good. I knew I wasn’t going to get him on that last lap and was just trying to force him to make a mistake. Following was very difficult out there today because the temperatures were so high – I would drop back for a couple of laps but then creep back up to have another crack. I feel like on my side of the garage, we’ve made good improvements. We’re certainly fast this weekend and we’ve rolled out fast on a Saturday which is fantastic.”

“The guys did an awesome job on my car overnight to get it to where it was today. Although we managed to make all three qualifying sessions today, I still struggled because it felt like they were my first laps of the weekend after not getting a run at yesterday’s practice sessions, and it didn’t feel like I was driving very well. The car was well sorted overnight, and the guys did an awesome job for the effort they put in. It was a tough race out there. I’m so thankful that Cam (Waters) is ok. To see his car catch fire like that was really scary, but I was relieved to see him ok after that. The car has some damage which we’ll work through overnight and hopefully come back tomorrow with a strong car.”
